Pigmentation is simply known as ‘skin coloring’. Every one of us had different skin tones, from the time of birth to certain age our skin color changes from time to time. Have you wonder why this happens ? Find out in your skincare guru’s point of view.

Pigmentation

Skin color was determined by the major substance called MELANIN‘. Melanin was produced by melanocytes located in the skin epidermis in the body. This melanin production effects the skin, eyes and hair as usual. Absence of melanin results in skin pigmentation. It is commonly says that our skin color was get from pigment called melanin, when this skin cells become unhealthy or damaged due to certain conditions it effects the melanin production. Its important to note that the production of melanin effects the skin color.

Excess production of melanin

The main of excessive production of melanin is sun exposure, when we spent long time under the direct sun our body produces excess melanin to protect us from the harmful UV radiation. This UV rays from the sun misleads cells in the body and effects their proper functioning which may leads to burning, skin tan, aging and skin cancer. The excessive production of melanin results in hyperpigmentation and low production of melanin results in hypopigmentation.

HYPERPIGMENTATION

Hyperpigmentation is a condition where the patches, spots on the skin becomes more thicker and darker. It is the case where our skin looks not as a normal skin. The main reason for the cause of hyperpigmentation is due to the increase in the melanin.

Causes of hyperpigmentation

➡️Sun exposure
➡️Genetics
➡️Hormonal changes in the body
➡️Inflammation
Excessive production of ‘melanin’ results in
⚫Dark spots,
⚫Acne scars,
⚫Patches on skin,
⚫Sun spots and
⚫Melasma ( it is the case where brown color patches occur on the both side of face ).
( This can be called as HYPERPIGMENTATION )
How to increase the production of melanin
It is better to increase melanin naturally, eating healthy food and maintaining proper diet results in the increase of melanin production in the body. Food consists of citric acid, vitamin a, vitamin c, vitamin b12, and antioxidant rich foods.

Here are some of the ways to treat Hyperpigmentation

✨SPF
✨Vitamin c
✨Kojic Acid
✨Chemical peels
✨Laser treatments

Honey works great on skin, as it deals with hyper pigmentation and lightens the darkness on the skin. Try to use original honey, instead of purchasing from the market and also there has been different skincare products introduced to brighten the skin.

HYPOPIGMENTATION

Hypopigmentation is the case where patches on the skin looks more lighter then the original tone of the skin. This occur due to the decreased melanin production in the body. When the melanin production is low in certain areas on skin leads to hypopigmentation, this was opposite to hyperpigmentation and it will be shock to know that people who were suffering with the problem of hypopigmentation will have high chances of getting skin cancer.
Low production of melanin.
Melanin deficiency was caused due to the congenital defects, there has been many reasons for the  deficiency of melanin, when something happened to our skin area then our body was unable to replace melanin in that particular area. Low melanin in the body results in hearing problem.

Low production of ‘melanin’ results in

⚫White patches
⚫Color loss
⚫Wrinkles
⚫Pigmentation

Causes of Hypopigmentation

Hypopigmentation occur due to the deficient in folate, which results in pale- looking skin. The main causes of hypopigmentation are
➡️Trauma
➡️Inflammation
➡️Genetics
➡️Deficient in folate
When the Hypopigmentation is caused due to the genetic disorder then it will permanent, medications, light therapy, lasers, topicals, corticosteroids,  and proper nutrition diet will some what helps to restore the color. If hypopigmentation was not caused by genetics then it will have a chances cure. We can’t say the exact time of curing of hypopigmentation, in some conditions it will take much time but mostly it will cure in few months in most of the cases suffering with deficiency in melanin.
Any ways in the present market there has been different treatments and different skin products have been launched in the name of cure to both hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation.
