Moisturize your skin every day
Moisturization was the key to achieve hydrated skin. Moisturization helps to support skin’s natural barrier function and also enhances skin elasticity. Its important to understand your respective skin type before using any thing on skin. Never skip moisturizing your skin before going to Bed. I know, as a teenager you might be not clear about choosing perfect moisturizer according to your skin type ! Don’t get panic, always remember one thing !
- Dry Skin – Creamy Moisturizer ( to avoid dryness on skin )
- Oily Skin – Gel moisturizer ( to keep it gentle and oil free at the same time)
- Sensitive Skin – Moisturizer containing Ceramides and aloe vera ( for sooth skin )
- Acne prone Skin – Salicylic acid oil free moisturizer ( For not clogging pores )
- Normal skin – Hydrated, creamy and gel based cleansers
Always carry your moisturizer with you, as it’s a must-have product after cleansing.
SPF ( Sun Protection Factor )
Sunscreen is not just a teenage must have – it’s a life long essential regardless of age. Protecting your skin from harsh UV rays is crucial. Skipping Sunscreen this days leads to face pigmentation, scars and dullness. Teenage skin often battles pimples, but don’t let that stop you from using sunscreen instead,
- opt for Gel-based sunscreens that won’t exacerbate acne or clog pores.
- Never forget that Sunscreen is an ultimate shield against premature aging, dark spots and skin damage. Its suggested to use minimum SPF 30+ daily.
My dear teenagers, it’s the best time to incorporate SPF into your daily routine, especially as a busy teenager who’s always on the move, whether you’re studying, hanging out or just running around- you need protection.
What are the skin concerns faced by Teenagers ?
Formation of Acne
Puberty is the stage where teenagers face their first pimples.
Pigmentation
Hormonal changes leads to uneven skin tone and created darkness on face.
Black heads and White heads
Excess sebum production in this stage leads to formation of Black Heads and White heads around Nose, Chin and Forehead.
Over dryness
Hydration plays major role, we need hydration both internally and externally to maintain skin health. Teenage was the only stage which decides our skin future health. Dryness leads to Skin Breakouts and peel skin. It’s important for everyone to start taking care of their skin from this stage.
Teenagers can enhance their skincare routine with Toners, Serums and Face Masks but it’s essential to start simple routine first.
Begin with a basic 3-step skincare routine and gradually introduce new products to avoid overwhelming your skin. In my opinion, it’s crucial to allow your skin to adjust slowly, avoid making it dependent on multiple products at once. Instead, incorporate new additions gradually.
Points to be Noted
Skincare isn’t just for Show
Following a proper skincare routine in your teenage years doesn’t mean you’re showing off ; it’s about taking care of your skin.
Early skincare habits pay off
Constructing a skincare routine at a young age will always benefit your skin in the long run.
Start simple, add later
As mentioned earlier, don’t overload your skin with too many products. Start with the basics – cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Once your skin adjusts, you can gradually add more products to your routine. A simple skincare routine for teenagers can make all the difference in achieving healthy skin.
Over doing Makeup
I know every girl is obsessed with makeup but once you hit your teenage years, your skin starts acting u- breakouts, scars, dryness. At this stage you need to be super cautious about your skin. Doing makeup every day can actually lead to more damage. So, make sure you’re not overdoing it.
Make sure you’re using low concentration of products
Note this point – In teenage, your skin is still figuring things out. So, keep your skincare simple and use gentle, low – concentration of products and let your skins natural healing powers do their thing.
